Scripture consistently points to the heart as the source of speech, behaviour, and intention. Words do not appear randomly — they rise from what is already forming within.
Jesus states this plainly.
“For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
Luke 6:45
This song invites honest self-examination. What we speak — whether complaint, fear, pride, or faith — reveals what has taken root beneath the surface.
The Bible repeatedly urges believers to guard the heart because it directs life itself.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23
A heart shaped by anxiety will speak anxiety. A heart shaped by gratitude will speak praise.
Scripture also connects the heart to physical and spiritual wellbeing.
“A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.”
Proverbs 15:13
“A heart at peace gives life to the body.”
Proverbs 14:30
The song turns from observation to prayer — not self-improvement, but transformation.
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Psalm 51:10
A changed heart is not manufactured. It is formed by God when we submit ourselves to Him.
The Lord does not merely observe outward behaviour. He searches deeper.
“The Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought.”
1 Chronicles 28:9
“The Lord knows the thoughts of man.”
Psalm 94:11
Nothing spoken surprises Him. Nothing hidden escapes His notice.
Because God knows the heart fully, Scripture repeatedly calls us to bring it honestly before Him.
“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him.”
Psalm 62:8
Waiting on the Lord is not passivity. It is trust exercised over time.
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Psalm 27:14
Integrity is formed when the heart is aligned with God rather than driven by impulse.
“May the God of peace… equip you with everything good for doing his will.”
Hebrews 13:20–21
When the heart is shaped by truth, the mouth follows. Worship, obedience, and love flow naturally.
From the overflow of the heart, life speaks.
Amen.
